If you are an enthusiastic collector of model aircraft, then you should not miss this gem: the L-1649A Starliner in the colours of the legendary TWA airline. This model is a faithful replica of the real aircraft that flew in the 1950s and 1960s and was considered the pinnacle of technology and elegance.

The L-1649A Starliner was the last model in the Lockheed Constellation series, which became famous for its distinctive fuselage and tail surfaces. The Starliner was designed as a competitor to the Douglas DC-7C, which was capable of flying non-stop from Europe to California. The Starliner featured a new 46-meter wingspan and four Wright R-3350 TurboCompound engines, which allowed it to reach speeds of up to 560 km/h and a range of up to 10,500 km. The Starliner was also equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and communications systems that enhanced passenger safety and comfort.

One of the Starliner's main users was TWA, which deployed it on its transatlantic and transcontinental routes. TWA had a total of 25 Starliners, each named after a star. For example, the aircraft with the identification N8083H was named Star of Switzerland and was delivered to TWA in 1958. This aircraft served TWA until 1962 when it was sold to World Airways. It later flew for various charter and cargo companies before being retired from service in 1983. In 2018, this aircraft was restored and placed as the main attraction of TWA's new hotel at JFK Airport in New York City.
